Known for its textile production, confectionery factories and the Halifax bank - still headquartered in the town - Halifax is one of West Yorkshire's busiest towns with a wealth of rail connections to Manchester, York, Blackpool and London. While initially a heavily industrial town, Halifax has diversified in the last few decades to attract businesses from across the professional services, tech and FMCG sectors. Established in 1975, the town is home to Suma Wholefoods, the largest workers' co-operative in the UK with a multi-million pound turnover in 2016.
The town is also famous for the Dean Clough textile factories, which were some of the largest in the world at more than 1/2 mile long. Today, the premises operate as a mixed use area with retail, office space and many other amenities inside.
