The story so far…


as the world's leading provider of innovative workplace solutions, Regus is well aware of its environmental responsibilities. Any actions we take as a company to diminish carbon emissions will help to reduce negative global impacts.


For a number of years now we have been looking at our environmental impact in the UK and looking at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint and move towards more sustainable ways of working.


We have also been working closely with the Carbon Trust and were delighted to have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard in May 2010. This award requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and actually make real reductions. Unlike other awards it only recognises organisations that have taken steps to cut carbon across their own operations – it does not give credits for purchasing carbon offsets!

It's just the beginning


This prestigious award recognises the efforts we have made in reducing our energy consumption and with it also comes a commitment to continue to make year-on-year reductions in our carbon emissions.


To honour our commitment we have set ourselves a target: to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% by 2020 – using our 2007 level as a baseline. We are aware that this is a challenging target but are confident that it can be reached by building on our achievements to date and continuing to take practical measures to minimise our environmental impact.


We are looking at every area of our environmental impact, including energy use, water consumption and waste and are putting in place a robust series of practical measures designed to improve these.



Some of the measures we're taking


Replacing lighting with low energy lamps and fittings.


Installing light sensors where practicable.


Ensuring major plant machinery such as boilers, air conditioning etc is operating as efficiently as possible.


Ensuring all lighting and heating controls are functioning correctly and are suited to our needs.


Ensuring consistency of approach with regards to lighting and heating across centres (operating times and temperature).


Ensuring building maintenance staff, contractors and centre managers work closely together as one team.


Installing new automatic meters to read electricity and gas accurately. Installing more sophisticated recycling containers across all centres.
