I started in January 1997 with Regus in Brussels first Regus centre; Stephanie Square. My role was an Auxiliary Assistant Manager that meant floating between the 4 centres in Brussels, and covered for the Centre Managers or assistants where necessary. I spent most of my time in Regus Brussels Airport as this the biggest and busiest centre in Brussels at the time.
In September 1998 I transferred to Regus Brentford in the UK to replace the Assistant Centre Manager, who was being transferred to Regus La Defence in Paris. At the time Regus Brentford was one of the best performing centres in the UK and was 100% occupied and had a really good score on the quality audit. My role was managing the team on a day-to-day basis, completing the billing and ensuring all the paperwork was in order.
I moved to a newly opened Centre at Holborn Gate in September 1998 and was promoted to Centre Manager. It was still a building site when I moved there and my role was to set up a new team as well manage the last phase of the opening. We reached 100% occupancy within 2 months of date of opening.
In February 1999 I was invited to join the New Centre Openings team as a New Centre Opening Manager. This role involved managing the final stage of the fit-out of a new business centre, ordering all the items necessary for the day to day running of the centre and putting the facility management contracts in place so that they were all ready before the official opening of the centre. Once the Centre was open the Centre Manager would take over.
I was promoted again in July 2000 and became an New Centre Opening (NCO) Project Manager which meant I had the additional responsibility of managing the main fit-out contract of the new centres as well as managing some of the other large suppliers for furniture and carpets. In this role, as soon as new lease on a building is signed I am responsible for appointing the fit-out contractor and manage the complete process of opening of the centre up until the handover to the Centre to the new Manager.
Over the years my role has changed a lot and it now also includes managing the refurbishments of existing centres and large refurbishment to suit new client requirements.
In April 2004 I went on Maternity leave and I have been back now for nearly 2 years working initially 3 days but now 4 days a week in the same role which is working very well.
To date I have opened about 30 Centres all over the country, from Aberdeen to Exeter including some of the largest ones such as London City Point and Victoria. In addition I managed some of the larger client works including Linklaters, FT.com TFL, Home office and NHS.
